Car and Driver has compiled a list of the Best Hybrid Vehicles of 2024 and 2025, and makes sold at Isringhausen Imports dominate the list. Hybrids and plug-in hybrids combine gasoline and electric power to improve fuel efficiency, and car shoppers should consider these the top choices, according to the respected auto magazine. They include:
BMW 330e
C&D says: "The BMW 3-series has been the benchmark for the sport-luxury sedan segment for decades, and for good reason ... The base 330i model’s turbocharged four-cylinder provides appropriate oomph and impressive fuel economy while the plug-in hybrid 330e improves efficiency and adds 23 miles of all-electric range ... The BMW’s combination of high-quality materials and class-leading performance means it’s still the go-to sports sedan."
BMW X5 xDrive45e
C&D says: "The mid-size luxury SUV class is rich with choices, most of them good ones, but the 2023 BMW X5 xDrive45e stands out for a blend of performance and refinement that's missing from many crossovers. Its eco-friendly plug-in hybrid setup offers up to 30 miles of driving on electric power."
Mercedes-Benz S580e
C&D says: "The Mercedes-Benz S-class maintains superiority by being the full-size luxury sedan by which all others are judged ... The plug-in hybrid S580e makes 510 horsepower and can travel around 40 miles or so on electricity alone ... The S-class does a brilliant job of making the good life real."
Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid
C&D says: "People love SUVs because the space is useful, the cabin is comfy, and some come with incredible towing capability. The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid offers all of that but what puts it above the usual snore-utility vehicles is its rapid pulse. It's fun to drive and quick on its feet thanks to its feisty 455-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain."
Volvo V60 Recharge
C&D says: “Station wagons are a great antidote to the common SUV, often providing better fuel economy and more pleasant driving dynamics than today's crossovers … Volvo makes some of the best—and only—wagons available today, and the V60 and V60 Cross Country serve as the entry-level models in the Swedish automaker's long-roof lineup.”
Volvo XC60 Recharge
C&D says: “The XC60 pairs an elegant exterior with an upscale interior and a distinctively Scandinavian take on luxury. Volvo offers two four-cylinder engine options for the XC60—the 247-hp B5 and the 455-hp T8 plug-in hybrid. The Volvo takes corners well and feels connected to the road…”
Volvo XC90 Recharge
C&D says: “The 2024 XC90 remains one of the sharpest-looking mid-size luxury SUVs on the market. The same applies to the XC90's cabin, which benefits from a simple but modern interior design that's complemented by rich material choices. Three powertrains are available, as well. The plug-in hybrid Recharge boasts 455 hp and is capable of driving up to 36 miles on battery power alone.”
"Hybrids are no longer fringe players in the automotive world," wrote Car & Driver's editors. "Rather, gasoline-electric powertrains are trending toward the norm." Hybrid automobiles offer the best of both worlds, combining the fuel efficiency of electric motors with the power and range of traditional gasoline engines, and Isringhausen is proud to offer some of the best available.
