Introducing the New 911 Carrera GTS
The 911 Carrera is renowned for being an unadulterated sports car, and Porsche understands how important it is to emphasize this legacy. For 2011, they have released their latest interpretation: the GTS.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS combines the emphatic sportiness and performance that one would only expect to find on a race track with the ability for day-to-day driving. The uprated 3.8-liter flat-six engine with Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) now delivers 408 hp, 23 hp more than the 911 Carrera S. This was made possible by the redesigned intake manifold, the modified cylinder heads and the optimized engine electronics.  The Coupe model completes the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 4.4 seconds, the Cabriolet in 4.6 seconds.

As standard, the new 911 Carrera GTS models are fitted with 19-inch RS Spyder wheels with center spokes with a black painted finish. The main feature of these forged aluminum alloy wheels is the central locking device – a clear reference to the world of motorsport. Compared with the conventional five-bolt wheel connection, it offers enhanced driving dynamics and performance thanks to the reduction in rotating masses.

The outside of the GTS is noticeably different from the standard Carrera S given a few unique cues. The Carrera GTS is available with only rear wheel drive, yet it is 44mm wider at the back, similar to the Carrera 4. This wider track improves dynamic performance and driving stability, along with faster lateral acceleration when cornering. Unique trim along the side skirts, tailpipes, and front fascia hint at a higher level of performance, but do so discretely. Added Carrera GTS sidetrips and badging on the rear deck are also giveaways.

The interior is specific to the GTS, too. Porsche uses high-grip Alcantara for the seat inserts, shifter and hand-brake levers, and the steering-wheel wrap. It is mainly used to cover features such as these that require extra protection against wear and tear.

The new 911 Carrera GTS models. Whether in Coupe or Cabriolet form, the fact remains the same. They are the sportiest 911 Carrera models that Porsche has ever built. For more information on the Carrera GTS, contact an Isringhausen Porsche specialist by calling (866) 810-3718.
