It's back! The wildly popular Isringhausen Imports Burnout Contest returns to downtown Springfield as part of the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival (Sept. 27-29). The burnout contest will take place on Saturday at 3:00 pm at the corner of 7th St. and Washington. Be sure to arrive early to find a good spot to watch the action.

Mother Road Festival organizer Greg Cooper said in a radio interview that the 2024 Burnout Contest will have its first female participant in years—and she's 80 years old! The woman will undoubtedly be a fan favorite.

In addition to the Burnout Contest, Isringhausen Imports will sponsor the Main Stage for entertainment and announcements. That's where the famous Miss Mother Road Contest (Saturday at 11:30 am) will take place, and various music acts will perform. It's also where dozens of trophies will be awarded (Sunday at noon) for the best vehicles on display at the festival. See a full event schedule here.

The International Route 66 Mother Road Festival marks the unofficial end of summer in the capital city and should not be missed.
