A reception was held today at Golden Hour Bake House to celebrate the recent grand opening of their storefront at 11 W. Old State Capitol Plaza. Founded by local entrepreneur Alli Donaldson, Golden Hour was a recipient of the 2024 Isringhausen DRIVE Grant for small business startups in the downtown Springfield area. Ward 5 Alderwoman Lakeisha Purchase, Downtown Springfield, Inc. Executive Director Carlos Ortega, and several other distinguished guests were in attendance to celebrate the occasion. Cainan Barnett from Isringhausen Imports presented Alli with an oversized check commemorating the DRIVE Grant.
Golden Hour is a woman-owned, from-scratch bakery on S. 5th St., across from the Old State Capitol. It serves a variety of delicious baked goods, including donuts, muffins, and cookies, many of which are allergen-free. Customers can also enjoy a breakfast sandwich, bagel, or quiche in Golden Hour's colorful dining area.
The bake house is open Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you find yourself in downtown Springfield, be sure to stop by Golden Hour and treat yourself to one of their delightful creations while supporting a new small business.
Congratulations on the grand opening, Alli!
